RIYADH: Saudi Arabia promises to deliver a unique FIFA World Cup fan experience, aiming to attract large numbers of international fans to the Kingdom to watch football’s biggest event.

Every host city for the FIFA World Cup 2034 will have specially designed fan zones offering digital and physical entertainment options, and allowing both residents and tourists to dive into the rich cultural tapestry and warm hospitality of the host country.

Fan zones will feature livestreams of matches, musical performances, cultural displays, esports tournaments, and dedicated spaces for families and children.

The FIFA Fan Festival is set to highlight Saudi Arabia as a premier destination for sports and entertainment, aiming to use the World Cup as a platform to build international friendships and connections.

Two primary fan zone locations have been suggested In each of the five host cities, with the potential for more if needed. The sites will be centrally located or in well-known settings, ensuring easy access from nearby hotels and fan accommodation, or via public transport.

Collaborative efforts with FIFA will seek to establish additional dynamic fan zones across the Kingdom, ensuring that even fans in non-host cities can enjoy the World Cup atmosphere.

Riyadh will feature the Qiddiya Large Festival Grounds, an exceptional outdoor venue with facilities typically found in indoor venues, set against the impressive ancient cliffs of Qiddiya.

Another notable location in Riyadh, King Salman Park, will be the world’s largest urban park, complete with expansive greenery, as well as amenities for sports and wellness, and various entertainment options.

In Jeddah, fan zones such as Khuzam Park will blend modern facilities with the historic ambience of the Al-Balad district. Additionally, Jeddah Waterfront, a renowned linear park, will offer beaches, green spaces, top-notch accommodation, and a rich cultural and historical environment.

Alkhobar will host King Abdullah Park, a picturesque coastal area offering ocean views and proximity to many hotels, alongside the Dammam Heritage Village and vistas of Al-Marjan Island. King Fahad Park, one of the largest parks in the nation, will feature lakes, lagoons, and extensive green spaces ideal for fans to celebrate the event.

In Abha, Al-Bihar Square, a site with a history of hosting major events, will combine traditional Arabian architecture with contemporary design, featuring spacious green areas and excellent transport connections. Al-Dhabab Park, with its panoramic views of the Asir mountains, will also offer ample space and strong transport links, continuing its tradition of hosting fan events.

NEOM’s The Line Marina will serve as an impressive oceanside entrance, offering fans an extraordinary setting to enjoy the football action. The Marina Steps will provide breathtaking views of NEOM’s landmark, the Chandelier, and will be well-supported by amenities, including efficient transport to nearby hotels and NEOM Airport.

The proposed fan festival locations are designed to provide unforgettable experiences for fans from around the world, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s commitment to staging a memorable and successful World Cup.

He prayed for the Saudi king’s continued good health and well-being, and wished the Saudi people ongoing progress and prosperity under the king’s leadership.

SOFIA: Saudi Ambassador to Bulgaria Dr. Rami Al-Otaibi recently held a reception at the Saudi residence in Sofia on the occasion of the Kingdom’s 94th National Day.

The festivities included a variety of events honoring Saudi culture and heritage, including the inauguration of the Saudi coffee pavilion, musical performances by Saudi artists, a showcase of dates and their byproducts, as well as an introduction to various Saudi literary works, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The Embassy of Saudi Arabia’s Cultural Office in Tokyo also celebrated National Day with an event attended by Ambassador Ghazi Faisal Binzagr and Cultural Office Head Badr Al-Outaibi, along with Saudi graduates and students.

RIYADH: Saudi Space Agency’s CEO Mohammed Al-Tamimi participated in a high-level event in New York on Saturday on sustainable space exploration, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Held at the American Museum of Natural History, the event was organized by the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs and focused on strengthening international collaboration in space exploration to advance Sustainable Development Goals.

The gathering showcased cutting-edge technology and methods for using satellite data in space exploration and Earth observation, particularly in support of climate action and disaster risk reduction, aligning with the SDGs.

Al-Tamimi highlighted Saudi Arabia’s increasing role in the global space sector, stressing the importance of harnessing space technologies to tackle critical global challenges like climate change and the mitigation of natural disasters.

He pointed out that through the Saudi Space Agency the Kingdom was developing initiatives designed to promote innovation and utilize space technologies to support global climate efforts and Earth observation.

Al-Tamimi added that space’s contribution extended beyond the exploration of planets and galaxies, playing a crucial part in supporting international policies aimed at sustainable development.

He also emphasized that the Saudi Space Agency is working with international partners to enhance collaborative efforts, sharing expertise across nations to drive innovation in space and related technologies.

RIYADH: Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, supervisor-general of the Saudi aid agency KSrelief, participated in the high-level event “Building a Better World Together: The Future of Humanitarian Action” in New York.

The event was held on the sidelines of the Summit of the Future, part of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

Al-Rabeeah said: “At this important event, we aim to explore the challenges and opportunities available to improve the future of humanitarian action and to join our efforts and resolve to align global humanitarian action with the core principles of the UN Charter and the Sustainable Development Goals.”

He discussed the unprecedented challenges facing humanitarian efforts, including violations of international law, displacement, conflicts, and natural disasters, which require effective mechanisms to alleviate pressure on the humanitarian aid system.

He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to current and future humanitarian initiatives through KSrelief, which, since its establishment in 2015, has implemented over 3,000 projects in 102 countries, costing $7 billion, in partnership with 192 humanitarian organizations.

Al Rabeeah said: “We are aware that achieving successful future outcomes requires the implementation of sustainable solutions through innovative and proactive measures, as well as a commitment to accountability to affected populations.”

The supervisor-general highlighted Project Masam, which focuses on clearing explosives in Yemen to ensure safety and promote several SDGs related to public safety, healthcare, education, and livelihoods.

He noted that the event was an opportunity to reflect on how multilateral approaches can address challenges and enhance efforts to build a better world.

Al-Rabeeah stressed that KSrelief “is committed to applying the nexus approach, integrating humanitarian action with development and peace efforts. This comprehensive framework is essential for understanding the complex nature of humanitarian interventions.”

He added: “By working hand in hand, we can alleviate human suffering, empower communities, address the root causes of crises, and promote respect for international humanitarian law and humanitarian principles, ensuring equal opportunities for all and fostering hope for a better world.”

The high-level side event was co-hosted by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee and its secretariat, alongside members including the International Council for Voluntary Agencies, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, InterAction, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, UNICEF, Saudi Arabia, the African Union, Slovenia, and Spain.
